About The REST Response

REST began with a different understanding of recovery.

The REST Response was developed around a different understanding of recovery: that progress doesn't come from becoming better at controlling every thought, feeling, or sensation. It comes from learning to respond differently to them.

REST brings that understanding into a practical framework:

Recognize · Embrace · Soften · Turn—creating space between anxiety and reaction and gradually returning attention and energy toward life.

Because life doesn't have to wait for anxiety to disappear.

From Understanding to Application

Many people living with anxiety already understand a great deal about it. They may have read the books, listened to the podcasts, tried different approaches, or learned why their nervous system responds the way it does.

But understanding what is happening and knowing how to respond when it's happening to you are different things.

The REST Response was designed to help bridge that space—through structured learning, practical application, and human guidance.

The Perspective Behind the Practice

Parag “Steve” Gangwal
Founder & REST Guide

I know this terrain because I've walked it.

For 15 years, I lived with frightening physical sensations, intrusive thoughts, DP/DR, constant monitoring, fear, panic attacks, depression, and the exhausting search for the thing that would finally make it all stop.

What I eventually discovered was that recovery wasn't about becoming better at controlling what I felt. It was about learning how to respond differently to what I felt.

I stopped thinking of myself as someone who needed to recover. I stopped treating anxiety as evidence that something was wrong with me. Something that needed to be fixed.

I began to see it differently - not as something I had to overcome, but as something I could learn to move through.

Because it isn't a performance.

It's a practice.

Over time, the goal is that you need me less—not more. You begin recognizing the signals yourself. You stop treating every difficult day as evidence that something has gone wrong. You become less afraid of what you feel. Your world begins expanding again.

You're no longer waiting for your nervous system to give you permission to live.

You'll be leading yourself again.

I don't promise to take your anxiety away.

I'll help you stop organizing your life around it—and guide you toward becoming a person who knows how to move through the noise, trust yourself, and continue living.

I'd be honored to walk beside you.

WHAT GUIDES MY WORK

Trust in yourself.
I'll help you understand sensitization, recognize the patterns that keep the fear cycle alive, and apply what you've learned when it suddenly feels impossible.

Don’t try to perform.
We won't measure your progress by whether you had anxiety today. We'll look at how you responded when it showed up.

You should need me less—not more.
The goal is to help you recognize the signals yourself, become less afraid of what you feel, and begin expanding your world again.
